Nearly all U.S. olive oil production is in California, with smaller quantities produced in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Oregon and Texas. The Mission olive variety is the only one native to the United States, but the most popular Italian, Spanish and Greek varieties are also widely grown. The focus is on producing high-quality, extra virgin olive oils that can compete with well-established European brands in the world's largest consumer market.
